Fredric P. Weitz, O.D.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

• Dr. Fredric P. Weitz is a 1976 Graduate of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. During this period, he was an instructor teaching an optometric method class to students. He was the recipient of the Alumni Award for graduating First in His Class of 150 students.

• Dr. Weitz maintained two private practices in the Philadelphia area for over 20 years before re-locating to Tucson in 2000 – Community Eye Care and Valley Family Eye Care.

• In 1999, after attending an Intensive Therapeutic Drug Course with subsequent testing, Dr. Weitz was awarded Certification in the Treatment and Management of Ocular Diseases.

• Working for Nationwide Vision for 5 years in Tucson, Arizona, Dr. Weitz earned their Humanitarian Award two years consecutively for his work at the St. Andrews Children's Clinic in Nogales, Arizona.

• Arizona Vision Associates was opened in November, 2005 with the goal of providing convenient, quality and affordable eye care to the University of Arizona campus.

SPECIALIZED FIELDS and INTERESTS:

• Dr. Weitz's special interests in Optometry include Pediatric Optometry and Binocular and Computer Vision Problems. He is one of the few practitioners in the country with an acute interest in Anisekonia which deals with unequal image sizes between the two eyes.

• Another career long specialty of Dr. Weitz is Orthokeratology or Corneal Re-shaping. He attended lectures on the subject regularly as a member of the National Eye Research Foundation.

• Dr. Weitz is considered an expert in Contact Lenses, having fitted 1000's of patients.

• Fluent in Spanish, Dr. Weitz welcomes Hispanic patients to his practice. He is also conversant in a half dozen other languages.

• Fred is also an accomplished Stereo 3D Photographer, a former pilot and runner.

1996 - Graduated with Honors in Ophthalmic Courses at Tucson College. 1996 - Received Certification from the American Board of Opticians.
